Joseph Adolphe
Joseph Adolphe received an MFA from the School Of Visual Arts in NY in 1994. He lives and paints in the Westville section of New Haven where he lives with his wife and five daughters. He teaches drawing and painting in the Department of Fine Arts at St. John’s University in NYC. His paintings, no matter what the subject are usually records of whatever it is that he’s struggling with during that given time. He tries to talk about his process as little as possible. His paintings are included in a few corporate collections but mostly in the homes of some really good people.

New Paintings
This is a new series of paintings I worked on over the spring and summer. The images are based on my trips to the West Haven Beaches with my girls. I was motivated by the activity and colors that were in constant motion. -
New Drawings
As a corollary to the Resurrection series, I returned to a favorite them of mine: the still life. This group of drawings is being further developed and I hope to have a few more by January. -
Judges Cave
This is series I began recently. On the top of West Rock sits 'Judges Cave', a historically important site, much overlooked, but nevertheless a great subject to paint. I'm going to try to get a painting of this site in as many different conditions(time of year/day) as possible. -
Easter Series
This Series of paintings had the Easter season in mind as it developed. It has as much to do with formal transformation as it did for the personal. -
